What is the Board of Trustees & what are they responsible for? The CCSD Trustees are publicly elected decision-makers for the school district. They are responsible for providing oversight to the Superintendent and establishing District-wide policy. Trustees are accountable to work with their communities to improve student achievement.

How often does the Board of Trustees meet? Trustees meet twice per month (second and fourth Thursdays) at 5 pm both virtually and at the Edward A. Greer Education Center Board Room (2832 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89121).

Can community members engage at Trustee meetings? Decision-making bodies benefit greatly from hearing public input and multiple perspectives. Currently, members of the public can submit comments on agenda and non-agenda items through email or voice recording. Public comment can be provided in person, via email, or via voice recording. Email comments should be submitted to Boardmtgcomments@nv.ccsd.net. To submit a voice recording on items listed on the meeting agenda, call 702-799-1166. Voice recorded public comment is limited to 1 minute 30 seconds.

Trustees Approved the Consent Agenda (7-0)
Consent Agenda Highlights:
- Agreement between CCSD and Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada
- Unified personnel employment and licensed personnel employment
- Agreement between CCSD and the Southern Nevada Health Department
- Several grant applications

Trustees Heard an Update on the Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan – Nevada System of Higher Education Remediation Rates
Trustees received a presentation on remediation rates from NSHE institutions, including UNLV, UNR, and CSN. Highlights included:
- Data for remediation rates this year are unavailable due to a change in the NSHE dashboard and shift to a co-requisite model.
- There is no standard definition of what makes a remedial course. Data variations by state and institution make it impossible to compare our state with others.
- CCSD is strategizing around systemic efforts to mitigate remediation needs in college. Efforts are going towards creating consistency in master schedule design, maximize ability to offer advanced-level coursework.

Trustees Approved the Appointment of a Member to Fill an Unexpired Term on the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Board of Control (6-0)
Trustees appointed principal Colin McNaught to be appointed for the remainder of Amy Wagner’s term on NIAA. This term expires June 30, 2025.

Trustees Received an Update on Assembly Bill 175 of the 2023 Legislative Session
Highlights of the update include:
- Passage of AB175 adds four nonvoting members to the CCSD Board of Trustees
- Trustees passed a motion to approve researching options about the implementation of AB175 (7-0).
