Clark County School District Board of Trustees

What is the Board of Trustees & what are they responsible for? The CCSD Trustees are decision-makers for the school district. Seven members are elected based on district; four are appointed representatives from the four largest municipalities in Clark County (Clark County, City of Las Vegas, City of Henderson, and City of North Las Vegas). They are responsible for providing oversight to the Superintendent and establishing District-wide policy. Trustees are accountable to work with their communities to improve student achievement.

How often does the Board of Trustees meet? Trustees meet twice per month (second and fourth Thursdays) at 5 pm both virtually and at the Edward A. Greer Education Center Board Room (2832 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89121).

Can community members engage at Trustee meetings? Decision-making bodies benefit greatly from hearing public input and multiple perspectives. Currently, members of the public can submit comments on agenda and non-agenda items through email or voice recording. Public comment can be provided in person, via email, or via voice recording. Email comments should be submitted to Boardmtgcomments@nv.ccsd.net. To submit a voice recording on items listed on the meeting agenda, call 702-799-1166. Voice recorded public comment is limited to 1 minute 30 seconds.

Trustees Held a Public Hearing on and Approved the New Memorandum of Agreement between CCSD and the Police Officers Association of the CCSD

Trustees held a public hearing on and approved the new Memorandum of Agreement between CCSD and the Police Officers Association of CCSD regarding the use of personal leave by school police officers, allowing police officers to use earned personal leave through December 31, 2024. The change is only effective for the first year of the 2023-25 Negotiated Agreement. There is no fiscal impact associated with this Memorandum.

Trustees Approved the Notice of Intent for CCSD Regulation 1140.1 – Parent and Family Engagement and School Culture Investigations

Trustees approved new language for CCSD Regulation 1140.1 – Parent and Family Engagement and School Culture Investigations. This new language includes:

  • The process by which an investigation concerning parent and family engagement and school culture can be requested; and
  • The action that staff will take upon receiving that request, and how the process will work, including validating the request or petition; how the investigation will be conducted; and how any results will be implemented and reported upon.

The Notice may be considered at the Thursday, July 11, CCSD board meeting.

Trustees Approved Appointing Board President Evelyn Garcia Morales as a Representative to the Debt Management Commission and the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition

Trustee Williams has requested a reassignment of her appointment to the Debt Management Commission and the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition, effective May 31, 2024. Trustees voted to appoint CCSD Board President Evelyn Garcia Morales to these roles.
