Clark County School District Board of Trustees
What is the Board of Trustees & what are they responsible for? The CCSD Trustees are decision-makers for the school district. Seven members are elected based on district; four are appointed representatives from the four largest municipalities in Clark County (Clark County, City of Las Vegas, City of Henderson, and City of North Las Vegas). They are responsible for providing oversight to the Superintendent and establishing District-wide policy. Trustees are accountable to work with their communities to improve student achievement.

How often does the Board of Trustees meet? Trustees meet twice per month (second and fourth Thursdays) at 5 pm both virtually and at the Edward A. Greer Education Center Board Room (2832 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89121).

Can community members engage at Trustee meetings? Decision-making bodies benefit greatly from hearing public input and multiple perspectives. Currently, members of the public can submit comments on agenda and non-agenda items through email or voice recording. Public comment can be provided in person, via email, or via voice recording. Email comments should be submitted to Boardmtgcomments@nv.ccsd.net. To submit a voice recording on items listed on the meeting agenda, call 702-799-1166. Voice recorded public comment is limited to 1 minute 30 seconds.

Trustees Approved the Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update: Algebra I and Geometry Participation in Middle School (7-0)
Highlights of the presentation include:
- In the 2023-24 school year, 6,639 students enrolled in Algebra 1 (against a target of 9,183 students) and 1,089 students enrolled in Geometry (against a target of 858 students). That number represents about 17% of the student population, up from 14% enrollment in the 2019-20 school year.
- Every year for the past five years, the percentage of students enrolled in Algebra 1 and Geometry has increased.
- There is continued underrepresentation in Hispanic and African American student groups.
- Teacher vacancies remain a challenge to reaching goals.

Trustees Approved the Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update: Chronic Absenteeism (7-0)
Highlights of the presentation include:
- Decreases in chronic absenteeism occurred throughout all student groups in the first semester of 2024.
- Chronic absenteeism decreased from 36.6% at end of last school year to 29.6% in the beginning of the current school year.
- Within subgroups there were reductions in students identifying as African American (8.5%); Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (8.2%); Hispanic/Latino (7.3%); and English Language Learners (7.3%).
- Targets set by the strategic plan were not met, but all metrics showed progress towards decreasing chronic absenteeism.
- The greatest challenge to reaching the goals was that one office did not own the project, which has now been remedied.
- More than 21,000 home visits occurred by attendance enforcement officers in the 2023-2024 school year.
